As of March 2025, Indian Railways has significantly expanded its infrastructure, with approximately 80,000 kilometers of tracks now capable of supporting train speeds of 110 kmph and above. This marks a substantial increase from 2014, when only about 31,000 kilometers of tracks had this speed potential. The upgrade reflects ongoing efforts to modernize the railway network, enhance connectivity, and reduce travel times across India. This development includes improvements in track infrastructure, signaling systems, and safety measures, aligning with Indian Railways’ goal of improving efficiency and passenger experience.
