I believe all of us must be familiar with the incident in Phalgam, Kashmir. I won’t go over the details of the gruesome event, I am going to talk about what will follow it. The attack had both a political and a religious agenda. My deepest condolences to the victims and their families. The incident because it had an religious side to it will spark religious hatred across the country, creating tension between hindus and Muslims fueling religious and hate driven politics and in the end the people who will be affected by the consequences would most likely be the ones who had the least to do with any of it. This is like the golden opportunity for the religious fanatics across the nation because now they have a reason to riot, riots, as their nature is, affecting those those the most who had nothing to do with it. Someone will be killed on their way to work because of their cap, someone will be killed on their way home because of their tilak. I suggest everyone carry a saffron cloth and a Muslim skullcap(taqiya) with them at all times; it may not be enough considering the phalgam attack, but it will be something. I just hope that people realise the true enemy isn’t the other religion but extremists as a whole, regardless of the ideology they are inclined to. While I realise most people wouldn’t be understanding towards me but history will be.
