After the heartbreaking Pahalgam massacre, where 26 innocent lives were lost, Indian authorities have gone all-in with a massive crackdown across Jammu and Kashmir. Over 1,500 people have been picked up on suspicion of helping militant groups, and at least ten houses linked to terrorists have been demolished in areas like Pulwama, Shopian, and Bandipora. It’s been pretty intense on the ground.
This whole crackdown kicked off after that brutal April 22 attack, which was claimed by a group called Kashmir Resistance — reportedly tied to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba. Not surprisingly, things between India and Pakistan have gone from bad to worse since then. India has suspended the Indus Waters Treaty and kicked out Pakistani nationals, while Pakistan hit back by shutting its airspace to Indian flights and even pulling out of the 1972 Simla Agreement.
