In a big leap for India’s air power, Russia’s powerful R-37M air-to-air missile is all set to beef up the country’s fighter jet fleet. This missile’s range is a game-changer, reaching up to 400 km, meaning it can take out enemy jets long before they even get close enough to pose a threat. This is especially huge when you consider Pakistan’s JF-17 jets, which are armed with China’s PL-15 missiles.
Now, while China’s PL-15 is no slouch with its impressive range of around 300 km, the R-37M just takes things to a whole new level with its speed, accuracy, and, well, the sheer likelihood of a successful hit. Experts are already calling the R-37M a “game-changer” for South Asian air defense, giving India a serious edge if things ever turn heated in the skies.
