New Delhi/LoC, May 7
In a dramatic escalation of tensions along the Line of Control, top intelligence sources have confirmed that India conducted a covert cross-border operation—code-named “Operation Sindoor”—targeting terror infrastructure in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). While there is no official statement yet from the Indian Ministry of Defence, multiple high-level sources have corroborated that the mission was executed in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Precision Strikes on Terror Launchpads
According to security officials familiar with the development, specialized units of the Indian Army, supported by intelligence inputs from RAW, carried out precision strikes on at least three identified terror launchpads near the LoC. The camps were allegedly being used to facilitate infiltrations into Jammu and Kashmir.
The strikes were reportedly short, swift, and surgical—a term now familiar in India’s evolving counter-terror doctrine.
“This was not retaliation, this was a preemptive strike based on concrete intel,” a top defence source told Bharat Global Time on the condition of anonymity.
What Triggered the Operation?
The operation is believed to have been greenlit after a recent terror attack in Poonch, in which several Indian Army personnel lost their lives. In the aftermath, Indian intelligence agencies tracked suspicious movements along the LoC and intercepted chatter suggesting the activation of multiple sleeper cells.
The National Security Council reportedly held emergency meetings over the weekend, with final approval coming from the highest level of government.
India Maintains Strategic Silence
So far, there has been no formal acknowledgment or denial from Indian authorities. When asked about the alleged operation, a senior official at the Ministry of External Affairs said:
“India reserves the right to protect its sovereignty and citizens. Any steps taken will be in line with that principle.”
🇵🇰 Pakistan Responds, Alleges “Unprovoked Aggression”
In Islamabad, the Foreign Office has accused India of “violating ceasefire norms” and has issued a stern warning of retaliatory measures. Pakistani media has begun airing reports of explosions near Muzaffarabad, but there is no independent confirmation of damage or casualties at this time.
Pakistani military spokesperson Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif said in a press briefing:
“We are fully prepared to respond to any misadventure. This will not go unanswered.”
Global Reaction and Escalation Fears
International observers, including the United Nations and the United States, have called for calm and de-escalation. The move comes at a time when regional stability is already under strain due to increasing cross-border militancy and political unrest in Pakistan.
Defense analysts believe that Operation Sindoor could signal a strategic shift in India’s counter-terror approach—from reactive defense to proactive neutralization.
The Road Ahead
If the details emerging from multiple sources are accurate, Operation Sindoor may represent a critical inflection point in Indo-Pak relations. With no official confirmation yet, and both militaries on high alert, the coming days will be crucial in determining whether this remains a controlled incident—or spirals into broader conflict.
