Dubai | July 10, 2025 — The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued a public warning urging residents and foreign nationals to stay alert against fraudulent offers related to the Lifetime Golden Visa.
With growing interest in long-term residency in the UAE — especially among Indian professionals, investors, and influencers — scammers are cashing in by tricking people into paying for fake visas through unofficial channels.
What the UAE Authorities Are Saying
According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, some individuals and unlicensed agents are falsely offering “Lifetime Golden Visas” in exchange for hefty payments, claiming they have direct government ties or inside access.
“There is no such thing as a Lifetime Golden Visa. All Golden Visas are issued through official channels only, and any communication offering one for cash is a scam,” said an official spokesperson.
The legitimate Golden Visa program offers 5 or 10-year residency permits to investors, entrepreneurs, top professionals, and outstanding students — but not for life, and not through third-party brokers.
How the Scam Works
Here’s how the scam typically unfolds:
- You receive a WhatsApp or email message offering a “lifetime” visa for a lump sum payment
- Scammers show fake approval letters or pose as “consultants” tied to immigration offices
- Some even operate fraudulent websites or social media pages that mimic government portals
- Once money is paid, the scammer vanishes
Why Indians Need to Be Extra Careful
India has the largest expat population in the UAE. Many young professionals and business owners from India have been targeted by fake Golden Visa promises — often lured by flashy promises of easy relocation, tax-free life, and permanent status.
“I paid AED 10,000 to a so-called agent in Dubai, only to find out my visa didn’t exist,” said one Indian victim who wished to stay anonymous.
How to Stay Safe
- Apply only through official UAE government portals, like icp.gov.ae or u.ae
- Ignore WhatsApp or Telegram groups promising “fast-track visas”
- Report suspicious messages or agents to local UAE police or cybercrime units
- Verify consultants’ licenses through official UAE government channels
Golden Visa: What’s Real?
Feature | Official Golden Visa | Scam “Lifetime Visa” |
---|---|---|
Validity | 5 or 10 years (renewable) | Fake “lifetime” status |
Process | Through gov portals only | Via shady agents |
Cost | Transparent government fees | Hefty upfront “fixer fees” |
Eligibility | Strict criteria (investment, skill) | “Anyone can apply” claims |
Final Word
The UAE Golden Visa is real and valuable, but only when applied through legitimate means. If it sounds too good to be true — it probably is.
Stay sharp. Stay informed. And don’t let anyone sell you a dream that doesn’t exist.
