Straw man
1. An intentionally misrepresented proposition that is set up because it is easier to defeat than an opponent’s real argument.
It’s one of the most common logical fallacies one can find and fall a victim to in daily life. One such victim of the straw man is feminism to clarify it’s not just one of the victims it’s the biggest victim. It’s so big that even feminist can fall for it, this is also the reason why we have girls going around acknowledging themselves as ‘not a feminist’ while they actively get to taste fruits of the feminist movements. The straw man makes feminism look like a system and a movement to dominate men to take men’s rights away to take advantage of them. It’s just not the case it’s the simplest way I can articulate is the idea of having a society, and a system which allows for all genders to live with utmost dignity and rights. Tha’s it if you hear a definition that in any way goes against this it’s a strawman or if it’s coming from a self acknowledged feminist it’s resentment to men which I’m certain is due to a bad experience or a series of bad experiences. It’s crucial we push the real idea of feminism to people around us because it’s the only way to ensure we have as many allies advocating for equal rights as possible.
